Head of Engineering

We are seeking a strategic, customer-obsessed Head of Engineering to lead Ankercloud’s cloud engineering and consulting practice. This role is responsible for driving technical delivery excellence, building scalable consulting capabilities, and ensuring successful outcomes for our customers.

The ideal candidate is a senior technology leader with deep cloud expertise and a strong consulting mindset, someone who can engage confidently with customers, build high-performing delivery teams, and align technical execution with business value.

This role is not focused on building in-house software products, but on designing and delivering robust cloud solutions that enable customer success.

Technical & Practice Leadership

• Define and drive Ankercloud’s cloud engineering and delivery strategy aligned with business objectives and customer needs.
• Establish and enforce best practices for infrastructure and application architecture, security, governance, automation, and cost optimization.
• Own technical standards including reference architectures, migration patterns, modernization approaches, and operational models.
• Ensure security, compliance, reliability, and scalability are embedded across all customer solutions.
• Ensure emerging cloud and AI-enabled technologies are leveraged to maintain competitiveness while ensuring speed and quality.

Consulting, Delivery & Customer Outcomes

• Oversee end-to-end technical delivery across customer engagements, from discovery and architecture design to implementation and handover.
• Build a strong culture of technical consulting, participating in architecture reviews, roadmap discussions, and executive-level engagements.
• Drive a culture of customer obsession, accountability, and outcome-oriented delivery.
• Partner closely with Customer Success to ensure long-term value realization, customer satisfaction, and repeat business.
• Define and track delivery KPIs, including customer satisfaction, delivery quality, predictability, and risk management.

Sales & Pre-Sales Collaboration

• Partner with Sales and Business teams on pre-sales solutioning, technical proposals, and RFP responses.
• Ensure technical commitments made during sales cycles are realistic, scalable, and executable.
• Support the development of new service offerings, accelerators, and cloud solutions to drive practice growth.

Team, Leadership & Capability Building

• Build, scale, and lead a high-performing cloud engineering and consulting organization.
• Hire, develop, and retain top cloud engineers, architects, and technical leaders.
• Create clear career paths and capability frameworks for consulting and engineering roles.
• Mentor leaders to strengthen customer-facing skills, technical ownership, and delivery excellence.
• Implement fair, transparent, and growth-oriented performance management systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Operations, and Leadership teams to align technical delivery with business priorities.
• Provide clear communication on delivery risks, timelines, and trade-offs to internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to overall company strategy, positioning Ankercloud as a trusted cloud transformation partner.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, technology consulting, or enterprise delivery, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale cloud migration, modernization, or platform initiatives for enterprise customers.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, including security, networking, and governance.
• Experience building and scaling consulting or delivery teams in a services-driven environment.
• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end application development lifecycle.
• Production-level experience with latest GenAI tools for code augmentation, vibe coding, and compliant and secure implementations of modern technologies.
• Excellent customer-facing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong ability to balance technical excellence, delivery quality, and commercial outcomes.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in cloud or application development consulting firms, system integrators, or managed services organizations.
• Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of AI-enabled cloud services and automation applied in customer environments.
• Strong analytical and data-driven approach to delivery and decision-making.
